Running a marathon is one of the biggest challenges you can undertake, but running a marathon on a Fall day is a wonderful experience – the leaves are changing color, and the weather is pleasant.
But what marathons can you run in October? Read on to find out!
Boston Marathon
The course for the Boston Marathon begins at Hopkinton High School.
It winds through Newton, Wellesley, Brookline, and then back into Newton again.
There are many famous landmarks along the way including the Prudential Center, Fenway Park, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, and more.
The full marathon takes about three hours to complete.
After finishing, participants can enjoy post-race festivities with food, music, and drinks.
If you want to participate in the Boston Marathon but don’t have enough time to train, there’s always the option of signing up to be a “pace car.”
Pace cars are volunteers who help guide the pack during the race.
They’re also responsible for keeping the pace consistent throughout the entire race.
If you’re interested in becoming a pace car volunteer, you must first register as a runner.
Once you’ve completed your registration, you’ll be contacted by the race organizers regarding your availability.
You can sign up here. For those who prefer not to run, there are plenty of other ways to watch the Boston Marathon.
The race starts at 7:30 am ET, so if you want to follow it live, you should plan on waking up early.
If that doesn’t work out, you can always catch the race on television or online.
Hamptons Marathon, NY
This race takes place on beautiful Long Island, New York. There are many things to do there, such as hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, etc.
However, this race is very different because it is held in the summer when it is hot and humid.
You might want to wear some comfortable clothes or even swimsuits if you plan on participating in this event.
A nice course with lots of fun challenges. You can do this race in any order you want. Race day is Saturday, October 1st, 2022.
The start time is 8:00 am and the finish line is Southampton Intermediate School. The route is mostly flat and fast.
There will be a post-race party! All participants will receive an awesome medal!
Southampton typically sees mild to moderate temperatures during the summer months, but cool conditions in the fall.
Rainfall is steady throughout the year.
Lake Tahoe Marathon
Sunday’s Marathon is the original Lake Tahoe marathon. It is the third marathon of the triple marathon.
The early starters are not eligible for any award except for the finisher medal. The finish line of the marathon is at a lakeside beach.
If you get into the town too late to go to the expo, you can pick up your shirt at the finish line and your race numbers at your start line on race day.
The back of your race bib has the bus schedule and lots of other important information.
Shuttle buses leave from the Hard Rock Hotel Casino. Free parking is available.

The start line is on H 89 at Meadow Road just south of Homewood, CA, you will be bussed to the start line and run back to the SLT Finish Line at Lakeside Beach.
You will run through the village of Tahoe (mile 2) Small hill between miles 2 – 3 and then down to lake levels again at Meek’s Bay(mile 4).
There is a trailhead near the start line of the race, but it doesn’t go anywhere useful.
Instead, there is a point on a ridge where you can look down onto the bay. This is the starting point of the half-marathon.
You should probably run this route since it takes you to the start line of the full marathon. You will run along the lake and then cross the bridge.
There will be a sign saying ‘Taylor Creek’ and you’ll see the river. After crossing the creek, there will be a sign saying Tahoe Keys.
You will pass by lots of houses, and then you’ll get to the beach. There will be a bunch of people cheering and giving out medals.
A medical person will be near the finish line. Your warm-up bag will also be there. This marathon is about as easy as it gets.
You’ll run around beautiful Lake Tahoe. There won’t be any hills or tough terrain. Just a lot of fun running around with other runners.
Bank Of America Chicago Marathon

The course is flat, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink.

At the finish line, there will be a lot of people cheering you on. You’ll get some free stuff after the race.

There were 5 men who ran the race in the first year.
In 1976, the race became the “Land of Lakes Marathon” and then changed to the “City of Lakes” marathon.
The race had about 1,700 runners in the first year.
Then in 1981, the race grew bigger with more than 2,000 runners. The race was held in the summer.
In 1982, organizers from the Twin Cities Marathon decided to combine efforts to create a new marathon event connecting Minneapolis and St. Paul.
This marathon would be more attractive than two separate races because it would connect the city together.
The first Twin Cities Marathon attracted over 5000 participants. The inaugural Twin Cities marathon drew a crowd of over 5,000 people.

The marathon has many walkers in the race. The race is also very easy to run.
The race date is October 2, 2022. The start time is 7:10 am. The course map shows the route.
The parking map shows the locations of parking facilities surrounding the venue.
The Portland Marathon presented by OHE Health Expo will take place in October 2022. There will be paid parking nearby.
Run Portland Coaching Program coach Paul Carma will give course presentations and answer questions at 12:30 and 4:30 PM.
A photo ID is required to pick up your race pack.
They will allow individuals to pick up someone else’s bags, but we will require a digital or paper copy of the individual’s ID and written authorization to do so.
If the individual does not show up for the race, they will hold the bag until the next day.
If the individual shows up late, they will hold the race pack until the next day.
In either case, if the individual does not show proof of identity, they will be denied entry into the event.
Portland Marathon Expo is an event that features many types of races, including marathons, half-marathons, 5Ks, 10Ks, and other events.
There are also several non-profits who participate in this event.
Ashworth Bay State Marathon
The marathon is held every year in late October. It takes place in a city called Lowell. This city is 30 miles away from Boston.
